What is Hypnotherapy?

Many people have the wrong impression of Hypnotherapy and think that it is the same as the T.V.  or stage show where ‘volunteers’ from the audience are told to act stupidly, by a stage hypnotist, for others entertainment.  The work of the Clinical Hypnotherapist, is much more important as we guide our client to improve, get rid of, or gain something that is affecting their life and probably those around them. A trained Hypnotherapist will ensure your confidentiality, will be suitably insured and follow a strict code of ethics.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state which allows the therapist to by-pass the part of our mind that restricts us from having a normal life. Hypnosis is natural, drugs free is relaxing and gives our client a feeling of serenity.

You have probably been in hypnosis many times already; ever been so engrossed in a film or book and not noticed someone entering the room, ever travelled on a journey and can’t remember part of it, ever had a daydream? It’s just like that moment before we fall asleep. These are the sort of feelings you may get, many clients do not ‘feel’ hypnotised. The client is fully aware of what is happening and can stop at anytime, so the client always feels in control.

How does it work?

Because our unconscious mind is always working, testing, monitoring, checking and storing information about our experiences in our memory, is it any wonder that sometimes we miss interpret that information? This is where conflict and fear reside, deep in our subconscious, causing anxiety and stress. For example, a fearless racing driver may turn into a nervous wreck if a mouse ran across his path, because at sometime in his past somebody shrieked and ran away at the sight of a mouse, this person knows a mouse is harmless but cannot stop the fear and subsequent stress. Unless this behaviour is controlled, this person will transmit this bad behaviour on to others-usually their children, don’t forget, most of our learning was from our parents or other adults, until we became adults and could work things out for ourselves. Another example of bad behaviour causing problems in our life- ask yourself- who taught us to be nervous about; an exam, public speaking,  stage fright, eating in public or just simply have a conversation with strangers? All these situations should not be ‘scary’. This is where the trained hypnotherapist comes in.

Can anyone be Hypnotised?

Yes, everybody is capable if they really want to change an aspect of their lives. Some medical/psychological conditions will prevent this, call me to check this out.

Can I do things against my will?

Certainly not! The client is always in control.

What is it good for?

Hypnotherapy is good for; relieving stress-related conditions such as anxiety, eating problems, panic attacks, stopping smoking, depression, lack of confidence, sport enhancement, stage nerves, driving and test nerves, self esteem, grief, habits, alcohol dependency, sexual problems, fears, phobias, and many other psychological and emotional problems.

Will hypnosis be used on every session?

Not necessarily, as it depends what we are working with. Hypnosis may be used to find the cause of your problem or to strengthen your inner self. Other types of therapy that can be used if appropriate, these are NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) or EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) tapping acupressure points, which were made popular recently by Paul Mckenna on T.V. l  am fully trained in both therapies.

Do you do practise ‘past life’ regression?

Yes, some client’s want this for curiosity or to resolve an emotional problem in their life.

Do you do use analysis?

Yes, this is extremely useful for clients who wish to look at unresolved problems from their past.  Many times we have something that we cannot remember from our past but still ‘niggles’ us. Looking at these areas as an adult will help to resolve many underlying problems.

Is it confidential?

Absolutely, only I will talk to you on the phone or by E-mail. I have no secretary. Your anonymity will be assured.

How much will it cost?

Your first session is absolutly free (does not apply to quit smoking or home visit) thereafter 50 pounds each session.

How many sessions?

Because we are all different, each individual responds differently and so therapy can be from just  2-3 sessions or some rare cases up to ten, rarely more. The Quit-smoking is one session lasting up to two hours.

Which areas do you cover?

If you can travel there is no limit. my local area is Hornchurch, Romford, Harold Wood, Upminster, Cranham, Harold Hill, Elm Park, Rush  Green, Harold Park, Collier Row, Chadwell Heath, Dagenham, Brentwwod, east and south Essex, north and east London.
